To principally act as a focal point within the Environment Team, reporting to the Team Leader, using your management skills for the benefit of my client.
Principal Accountabilities - Provide specialist input - Coordinate works where applicable - Assist with the identification, development and review of processes within Environment Team - Answer day-to-day questions of Team - PDRs of staff - Manage staff as appropriate - Review written work prepared by Team - Deputise for Team Leader as required - Relevant training as required
Essential academic, professional qualifications and Experience:
- Both practical and office-based experienced in consultancy. - Experience of working within the highways or construction industry - Experience in working adjacent to high-speed roads and basic knowledge of temporary traffic management. - Academic achievement in Forestry, Landscape Management or similar, to the level of BSc or similar.
Desired academic, professional qualifications and Experience:
- Professional membership of ISA (International Society of Arboriculture), or Arboricultural Association, or similar. - Postgraduate achievement in Forestry, Landscape Management or similar.
Essential Competencies/Skills:
- Ability to arrange for, or supervise, or coordinate, the detailed condition survey of trees within the Highways soft estate (must be able to work on own initiative). - Ability to ensure that all necessary arboricultural works are programmed and completed within their appropriate timescales. - Ability to ensure that tree management records are kept up to date (candidate must be well organised, IT literate and have knowledge of GIS systems). - Ability to respond to public concerns in relation to unsafe trees (good written and verbal communication skills are essential). - Ability to provide technical advice to designers with regard to the impact that construction schemes will have on adjacent trees and hedgerows (thus must be good team player). - Competent in providing technical advice on landscape planting schemes. - Competent in providing technical advice on the maintenance of tree planting schemes. - Must have full clean driver’s licence - Must have working knowledge of tree and hedgerow legislation.
Desired Competencies/Skills:
- Knowledge of protected species, legislation and policy that protects certain flora, fauna and habitats
