Principal Permitting Officers and Senior Permitting Officers – Process Industry
Warrington, Nottingham, Solihull & Cardiff
£25,000 - £40,000 depending on experience + benefits
Permits are fundamental to the way in which we maintain high standards in pollution prevention and control. They enable businesses to operate in a way that’s both efficient and legal.
We have recently set up National Permitting Centres in England and Wales to ensure we provide a customer-focused service that’s truly cost-efficient and effective. At the forefront of pollution control, you’ll be setting conditions to prevent and control pollution by reviewing and assessing applications for permits.
It’s a role that involves working closely with colleagues from other regions, industry and consulting with other public bodies. You’ll get to deal with a number of different industries and issues, and you’ll get exposure to new technologies and their impact on pollution control. Everything, in fact, from power stations and incineration through to cement works and chemical plants, so you can be sure of plenty of variety as well as career prospects.
A graduate or equivalent – ideally with a professional qualification – you’ll need a background in the process industry, although we’re open minded as to whether you’ve been working in a production, environmental or consultancy role. Most importantly, you’ll have gained a good technical knowledge of the process industry, and its impact on the environment.
