Our client is one of the world’s largest employers of professionally qualified staff, with operations focused in a number of key geographical markets from the UK and Europe to America and the Middle East. They are a multinational engineering and design consultancy, providing expertise to help resolve complex challenges presented by the built and natural environment.
Our client currently has several vacancies for Environmental Assessment and SEA/SA practitioners to play key roles in their growing Sustainability Planning and Assessment Teams in Cambridge and London. This Team is a centre of excellence and “think tank” for innovation in integrated appraisal and environmental assessment within our clients business. In this capacity it both undertakes projects throughout the UK and overseas and provides leadership and a focal point for other professionals within providing similar services.
Our client is looking for an experienced and dynamic individual seeking fresh challenges and a position where they can increasingly contribute to managing and growing the Sustainability Planning and Assessment Team.
This Role would involve: • Project managing EIAs and other environmental planning related projects in the UK and internationally • Staff mentoring and development, advisory and review function for more junior staff in the above technical areas • Marketing, Business and client development and championing of services both internally and externally. • Developing relationships and strategic alliances both within and outside the company to improve our EIA service and maximize opportunities • Bid preparation and presentation • Providing a key role in the EIA Skills group including developing and dissemination of EIA best practice • Contribution to developing a Vision and Business Plan for EIA, SEA, SA and other related services throughout the Environmental Planning business • The majority of the work will be UK based but there will be opportunities for undertaking overseas assignments

Skills Required:
• A degree in a relevant discipline with appropriate post qualification experience including project manager level in delivery of EIA projects, gained either in the public or private sector, preferably with some consultancy experience • Expertise in EIA essential • Experience in the international market and/or in the mining sector highly desirable as would be knowledge and experience of application of the Equator Principles, IFI procedures including those of the World Bank • Expertise of or interested in developing expertise in SEA/SA desirable. • Expertise in Highway scheme assessment desirable • Ability to innovate and develop customised solutions, often to complex problems • Strong management and commercial skills, and knowledge of quality control procedures. • Demonstrated track record in marketing, business development and securing projects • Experience of staff mentoring and management, a self motivator and motivator of others. • Excellent communication and writing skills • Ability to be flexible and operate to tight and demanding deadlines • Expertise in any of the following an advantage: production of EMPs, design of Environmental Monitoring, Reporting and Indicator frameworks and production of SoE reports, EMS.
