Job Purpose

My client has gained a formidable reputation for the expertise of their support services. And nowhere is this more evident than in their Land and Environment Division - a vibrant 300-strong operation which offers both public and private sector clients a wide range of professional advisory services. And right now, they have an exciting opportunity for a professional Air Quality Consultant to join their team. To succeed, you'll need to be an experienced consultant in this area already. You'll have an excellent command of both air quality and odour assessment techniques and UK Air Quality Strategy and Regulations. Membership of a relevant professional body (such as the IAQM) would also be an advantage. On top of your technical knowledge, you'll also need to be comfortable with project management and financial management, and contributing to successful bids and proposals. Project work is likely to include: - Environmental Impact Assessment - Strategic Environmental Assessment - Local Transport Plan Assessment - IPPC/PPC Regulatory Assessment - Waste Management Licensing - Sustainability Appraisal Project work is also anticipated to include site work, travel to other offices and overnight stays.

Accountabilities

You can expect to work on a wide range of exciting cross-sector projects both here in the UK and overseas. It will be your job to monitor and assess ambient air quality and odour through the application of a wide range of empirical and computational modelling software (such as DMRB, ADMS-Roads, ADMS 3, etc.) Working closely with your Team Leader, you'll spend the rest of your time enhancing our air quality capabilities and developing our client relationships. You will work alongside your Air Quality and Acoustics colleagues supporting the Team across UK offices to develop and deliver existing services. You will report to the Air Quality and Acoustics Technical Co-ordinator

Competencies

Experience - Experience in environmental consultancy or working for a Local Authority (Environmental Health Officer or equivalent) - Experience in following or enhancing methodologies for the assessment of air quality (e.g. DMRB, WebTAG, STAG, LAQM.TG(03), etc.) Technical Skills/Ability - Application of empirical and computational modelling software for the assessment of air quality including model verification and assessment of impact significance - Application of support software to air quality assessments (e.g. Surfer; ArcView, etc.) - Excellent report writing and proposal writing skills Competencies/Personal Attributes - Flexible Thinking - Team-Working - Delivering Results - Good communication skills: Written and Oral
