The Development and Construction team within a leading multidisciplinary are currently focusing on delivering their growth programme, ensuring that projects are completed safely, to time and budget.

Wind is one of the UKs most promising renewable technologies and already provides electricity for over one million homes.

This consultancy is continuing to develop new onshore and offshore wind energy schemes and biomass projects with a healthy line up of projects at various stages of development. As such they have a number of opportunities for Project Developers in this area to either take the development of individual schemes from approval of the development proposal through to the sanction for full capital investment or to provide specialist engineering or environmental support to such schemes. These capital projects range in value from £15m up to £600m.

The range of duties will include: • Being responsible for the achievement of development phase milestones on specific schemes, maximising the commercial potential of such projects. • Managing the overall scheme design. • Production of project specific enquiry documentation and recommendations for use of contractors and plant suppliers. • Risk assessment and risk management for projects under development. • Commissioning and assessing environmental studies including management of specialist consultants. • Commissioning and assessing technical studies/investigations including management of specialist service providers. • Developing project specific stakeholder interaction strategy and contributing to resulting consultation/information dissemination activities.

Successful candidates will have: • Strong analytical, communication and influencing skills. • The self motivation and drive necessary to succeed within this challenging and exciting sector. • Excellent project management skills with proven delivery to time and budget. • Strong team player attributes and commercial astuteness. • A keen interest in health and safety. • A current driving licence. Candidates are expected to have relevant experience of working within multi-disciplinary teams on the development of large-scale capital intensive construction projects in the energy or related sectors.

Vacancies exist for both project developers and senior project developers. In addition to the above attributes applicable to both roles, senior project developers may have responsibility for a small team of developers. As such candidates for Senior Project Developer posts should either have proven leadership skills or be able to show their potential at interview.

These roles would suit individuals educated to degree level (or equivalent) standard, preferably in a technical discipline, who are looking to develop their career with a leading UK renewables player, integral to one of the UK’s major energy supply companies. The posts are based at in Newcastle and some flexibility may be given in regards to home working.
