Fixed term for 2 years
Improving our long-term environmental viability is one of the highest profile issues facing us over the coming years. So this is a challenging opportunity for a sustainable energy specialist to steer the work of the Council by planning and delivering a range of projects, in line with our sustainable energy strategy.
The Sustainable Energy strategy will involve a carbon reduction programme within our own estate, a SALIX ring-fenced fund scheme, Energy schemes related to Regeneration, Biomass fuel supply, Home Energy Conservation programmes, Energy Service Companies and the development of a “Local Carbon Reduction Fund”. With a track record of managing significant projects to a recognised methodology (e.g. PRINCE 2), you’ll need to be familiar with EU scale tendering and letting contracts and with the processes and procedures (including consultation) required of local authorities. Just as importantly, you must be an excellent communicator and experienced negotiator who can liaise with and influence key stakeholders.
Creative and innovative, you’ll also bring us a proven ability to manage project budgets, risk and quality assurance. Above all, to deliver the exciting and vitally important developments that are necessary, you must be focused on delivery, customer care and quality.
