Hosted by Wiltshire County Council and supported by Natural England this exciting post provides professional ecological support to Kennet and North Wiltshire District Councils. Working within a small, friendly and dynamic environment team at Wiltshire County Council, at an exciting time as we move closer to ‘One Council for Wiltshire’, you’ll have the chance to protect and enhance the county’s internationally important biodiversity through the land-use planning system. Committed, confident and enthusiastic, it will be up to you to provide ecological advice on Local Development Frameworks and planning applications. This is a challenging role that will require initiative and a proactive approach.

Educated to degree/diploma standard in Ecology/Environmental Studies (or equivalent), you’ll be an ecologist with experience in local government, governmental or non-governmental organisations or as an ecological consultant and will be a member of IEEM (or eligible for membership). You’ll possess a good knowledge of UK planning policy and law relating to nature conservation. Good communication and negotiation skills together with a valid driving licence will also be essential.
