We also provide commercial services to the chemical industry and governments around the world, helping organisations to manage their chemical safety management and emergency response. Role Purpose In this role you will maintain a crucial 24-hour emergency response information service to the emergency services, chemical and transport companies, members of the public and others – both nationally and internationally.
We are looking for highly motivated, flexible individuals and who work well within a team environment to completed the following duties:
· Providing safety critical advice over the telephone to callers ranging from the emergency services through to members of the public. · Participating in a rotating shift pattern to provide the necessary 24-hour cover. · Providing a professional response in a customer care role on behalf of NCEC’s customers, while acting as their emergency response service. · Assisting in the management and preparation of safety critical information and systems used in the delivery of the NCEC’s products and services. · Contributing to the development of NCEC products, which could involve software development, product management or consultancy, depending on the candidate’s abilities. · Completing a written report of all calls that provides an accurate and professional précis of the call and the advice given.
Required business skills: Essential:
· Experience in a customer facing or account management role · The ability to function effectively while under pressure and dealing with emergency calls · Strong planning and organisational ability · Excellent communication skills both oral and written · Relevant qualifications in chemistry or a related subject · A good telephone manner and the ability to communicate effectively Technical Skills
· Knowledge of chemistry, eg. Understanding of terminology and reaction chemistry · Report writing skills · IT literacy including an aptitude for dealing with electronic data sources as well as a working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook etc Ideal Person:
· Experience within the chemical or allied industry sectors, or hazardous materials experience are desirable but not essential. · The ability to demonstrate an open and enthusiastic approach to learning · An interest in the environment and sustainability · A strong logical approach with the ability to also to think laterally · A team player with the ability to work independently · All successful candidates will respond positively to change and be able to drive change within an organisation. · All candidates are required to be flexible to travel to either client or AEA sites.
