Job: Principal Waste Consultant, Allen & York Ltd

We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Waste Consultant. This vacancy will allow the successful candidate to a lead in the development the Environment business in the Waste Management arena. This will include, but not be limited to, management of waste management projects, support to business development, preparation of estimates and proposals. Projects could include, preparation of business case, technical advice to councils, market testing, preparation of enquiries for waste treatment and waste handling facilities for municipal , hazardous or commercial waste treatment processes e.g stabilisation, composting, anaerobic digestion, MBT, energy from waste, transfer stations. 

As the successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate a strong technical background and wide experience, excellent knowledge of UK regulation in this area and an ability to manage the commercial and contractual risks associated with this kind of work. You will also be experienced in Disposal Authority waste projects, PFI / PPP and 4Ps processes, development of waste related strategies for Disposal Authorities either as a public servant or a consultant to Public Authorities.

You will need to be keen to win and execute high quality work and will be prepared to work alone or in larger teams, and in cooperation with waste experts elsewhere in the company. As the successful candidate you will also be required to supervise and mentor less experienced staff and be responsible for the technical quality of projects which you lead.

To be successful in this role you will need experience in a wide range of projects and operations with significant experience dealing with waste projects and operations and experienced in business development of professional services would be an advantage.

Experience in operation of waste treatment or waste disposal facilities. In addition you will need experience of permitting and licensing of waste handling and treatment plants would be an advantage.

Good people skills and drive and enthusiasm to motivate yourself and others is essential.

Experience in planning and preparation of proposals for professional services and prepared to write proposals personally or to plan and lead teams writing proposals would be an advantage. You will also need experience in preparation and delivery of presentations. and experience of Public Consultation and Stakeholder Management. Experience of work outside the UK particularly in Europe would be advantageous.
