Leading investment banking group specialising in the commercial opportunities created by the low carbon economy are seeking a bilingual climate change Associate Market development.
Description of the Role:
Advocate the Company's best image through diversified GR and PR tools with government agencies, clients, business partners and public & private sector institutions in China and at international level when necessary. Develop and implement Public Relations, Government Relations and Community Affairs strategies in China with the partnership of the business team to improve and protect our client China's profitability, competitiveness and reputation. Monitor, anticipate and influence the development of China's climate change related policies and markets at national and provincial levels. (e.g. cap and trade schemes for greenhouse gases; support for clean energy technology; waste, water, agriculture and forestry policy; and demand side energy efficiency measures, particularly in buildings and transport.) Provide analysis regarding Chinese foreign policy on climate change on both multilateral and bilateral level. Assess the impact of Chinese domestic and foreign policy with global views, participate in international research and advocacy efforts, and closely work with the international team for the development of the international climate regime and its politics.
Key Responsibilities:
To act as a Market Development, China team member that contributes to the implementation of Public Relations, Government Relations and Community Affairs. Execute trend analysis in key climate-relevant sectors and monitor policy developments. Help senior team members in the drafting and delivery of monthly and ad hoc reports. Collaboration with London team on modelling. Key competencies and qualifications include:
Considerable experience of China policy and government relations. Experience in climate change or energy fields and overseas working experience are both strongly favourable. Industrial or financial experience would be also advantageous. First class research skills including excellent quantitative skills, especially Excel modelling, and first class communication and negotiation skills. Fluency in both English and Mandarin.
Candidates with experience in the Chinese government, especially SDPC or with GR experience for large multinational companies in China would be an advantage. Smart, energetic, fast-learning, hard-working individual with professional maturity and ability to operate in a fast-paced, competitive work environment. Flexibility to travel extensively both around China and internationally. Bachelor degree, preferably with a major in public policy, environmental science, engineering, business, economics or finance.
