PURPOSE & SCOPE OF THE ROLE:

Reporting into the Head of Risk & Compliance Management (RCM), the Sales & Client Developer Manager will directly contribute to help meet the business plans, objectives and targets for the RCM group and provide effective management of the business development team. The role can be based from home or alternatively from an office in the Southern region i.e. Northamptonshire, London, Oxford or Cambridge.

Participating as an active member of the management team, the focus of this role is to implement the Business Development strategy to:

• Deliver budgeted revenues from profitable sales.

• Identify and create opportunities to develop new business from new clients.

• Grow revenue from existing clients.

• Grow revenue from inter-company sales.

• Encourage success through innovation.

This is a key position within the Risk and Compliance Management team. The Sales & Client Developer Manager will be responsible for developing the link between the operational team and the business development team. The role will directly support the growth of sales within RCM by managing and driving performance within the business development team. The role will involve managing a team of c4 business development staff (who are based remotely) as well as carrying out business development activities to meet a personal target.

KEY PROJECTS/CLIENTS:

The client portfolio is varied and principally covers the property and asset management and retail sectors. Most of the clients are based in the South.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

SALES:

• Manage the sales team to budgeted values of profitable business from existing and new clients.

• Ensure that the services sold are to agreed specifications and details are communicated effectively to the business.

• Work to a personal target and proactively carrying out business development activities to meet the target.

TEAM MANAGEMENT:

• Manage, motivate and mentor a team of c4 business development staff.

• Acts as role model to the team, providing leadership, support and constructive feedback.

• Create an environment that enables team to perform strongly and individuals to meet their career aspirations. Identify training needs as well as timely completion of appraisals.

• Effectively manage and resolve day-to-day people management situations, e.g. performance, development.

• Developing a results orientated environment where people are rewarded for their contribution to the business.

CLIENT RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:

• Develop and maintain effective relationships with existing, new and potential clients.

COMMERCIAL:

• Support the Management Teams consolidation of existing growth by supporting in maximising opportunities from existing clients.

• Take a proactive coordinating role to ensure that all plans are delivered and are on track.

• May lead initiatives to improve sales capacity and efficiency within RCM.

• Support the management team in mapping out the market and developing new services.

BID MANAGEMENT:

• Lead the bid management process and engage with the Finance, Commercial and operational teams as appropriate.

• Ensure that the business has a full understanding of the contractual requirements and duration of all client contracts.

• Evaluate all opportunities and ensure that they are pursued in line with the overall business strategy.

• Effectively manage third party relationships as appropriate to each business opportunity.

MARKETING & PUBLIC RELATIONS:

• Define the target market.

• Monitor and Control marketing costs in line with budget.

• Promote a positive image of Enviros Health & Safety Solutions to the market.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ideally hold a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.

• Hold membership of a professional institution however this is not essential.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Experience of working in either an environmental or health & safety consultancy is preferred however other relevant backgrounds will be considered.

• Proven experience in the development, mentoring and management of a sales team to achieve sales targets is essential.

• Knowledge of environmental and H&S risk and compliance management is preferable.

• Knowledge of the property asset management and/or retail sectors beneficial.

• A track record of client management and some experience of managing business development.

• Experience of financial management and an understanding of basic financial metrics.

• Working knowledge of client terms and conditions of contract is desirable.

• Strong leadership, communication and negotiating skills.

• Full driving licence essential.
