A leading UK environmental consultancy seeks an experienced business development professional to spearhead ambitious growth plans across the midlands.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the business development and marketing team with this company. You will be based in one of their Midlands Offices (Nottingham, Leicester or Birmingham), the role is client facing and expects you to draw on your experience within the environmental consultancy market and use your skills and organization to progress their business development and marketing initiatives.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and prepared to work with a range of new and existing clients to generate opportunities for proposals, term commissions, projects or other service agreements. Delivery will be strategically led by a director or regional director (depending on the opportunity) who will be actively involved with each of the initiatives at the appropriate stage to help drive them to their ultimate success.
• Identification of regional business opportunities and development of a stronger customer base, focusing particularly on key strategic market sectors in the region.
• Sales pipeline development; pro-actively engage with new prospective clients/existing clients to generate opportunities for new business. Provide strategic and timely advice on clients, markets and industry sectors to support forecasting and reporting
• Assist the bid team in the coordination of high quality prequalification and tender submissions and the winning of bids.
• Work with colleagues in their other divisions to initiate and support and initiate cross business unit opportunities and client development
• Develop and deliver a regional (Midlands in the first instance) BD development plan.
• Work with other regional BD’s and the National BD Manager to continue to develop and implement the national BD plan.
• Help monitor clients’ objectives and satisfaction plus taking a pro-active role in client care and relationship development
• Undertake effective market research and collate market intelligence in terms of sectors and skill area requirement for clients in the region
• Working with their marketing support team to develop channel communications and strategically support all advertising and public relations activities.
• Represent our client at key regional/national events, exhibitions, client hospitality and help with the development of the national events programme
• Assist their skill champions and groups in a focused approach to individual discipline streams to develop work opportunities.
• Excellent communication skills are a prerequisite to ensure the personal gravitas to establish credibility and influence with clients
• A relationship builder who can develop a solid understanding of the clients business and become a trusted interface between them and our client
• The Business Development Manager will forge strong working relationships with their technical teams and gain internal support for his/her role. Ability to interface with a variety of people across the business is essential
• We are looking for an enthusiastic degree qualified (or equivalent) person; environmental consultancy experience essential, experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment desirable
• Experience of working at senior level in a client facing capacity and demonstrable capabilities in business development, sales and customer relationship building
• Candidates with need to demonstrate a proven track record of moving opportunities forward to ultimate success in the environmental market place plus an ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
