Our client a leader in offshore renewable energy was set up in 2000 to respond to the growing opportunities in the offshore renewables market. They are now recognised as a leading player in the renewable energy business and uniquely it has a track record extending from onshore wind to offshore wind to offshore wind and tidal projects, and from project development and consultancy to design and construction. However, its core business is offshore wind.
Based at our clients new offices, the role of Offshore Project Development Engineer will involve:
• Providing technical and non-technical support for a range of offshore business development, consultancy and site development projects, including:
- specifying, procuring and managing third party studies and surveys;
- EIA preparation, including collating and analysing information or data and managing EIA consultants;
- communication with key stakeholders and consenting authorities (e.g. fishermen, local residents, DEFRA, DBERR, etc);
- liaising with our clients Energy’s development partners;
- assessment of key technical documents and reports from internal and external parties;
- assisting in the preparation of all statutory and non-statutory reports and briefs etc. required for the development of these projects and
- leading technical feasibility/optimisation studies for main wind farm components (e.g. foundations), including calculations, technical and cost assessments and risk analysis.
• Providing technical and non-technical support to a wide range of business development activities including innovative wave and tidal projects.
You must be self-motivated, able to maintain focus and ideally have several years work experience preferably in the renewable energy, power or offshore sectors. An excellent communicator and team-player, you must also be results oriented, highly numerate, creative and able to develop new solutions to new problems within agreed time frames and budgets.
Qualifications
Educated to degree level or above, ideally with a mechanical, civil or offshore engineering degree, or further qualification in renewable energy or environmental studies.
Self-motivated and good team player with hands-on experience.
Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Powerpoint & GIS systems).
