A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a waste consultant to join one of the largest multidisciplinary environmental consultancies in the UK.

Typical types of project involvement include: The procurement of waste management services and contracts for the collection and disposal of waste; Development of specific waste strategies; Preparation of output specifications, designs, tender and contract documents for integrated waste management facilities, civic amenity sites, MRF’s, digestion plants and in-vessel composting plants and a variety of research based studies.

Key clients and projects include public sector waste procurement projects and some private sector clients. The team undertake various waste and recycling projects for WRAP and also DEFRA including the recent Demonstrator and Supporter projects for the diversion of MSW away from landfill to more sustainable waste management alternatives; Waste planning and regulation projects with a variety of clients.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants will be educated to degree level or equivalent in either an engineering or environmental discipline.

Membership of a professional institution such as the Institution of Civil Engineers or the institution of Wastes Management would be advantageous.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

The successful candidate will be able to manage and develop on a day to day basis a number of ongoing projects and client relationships. As such you will require a good understanding of key issues in the waste sector and sufficient commercial acumen to apply this in a business context.

Experience of waste procurement and/or contract management is necessary and previous experience in a Consultancy environment or local authority is preferred.

Experience of preparing or evaluating bids would be advantageous. The ability to advise clients on the procurement of waste management services and contracts is also required.

A flexible attitude, positive outlook and attention to detail are essential as is the ability to work to tight deadlines.
