Role purpose: The role is to work with other construction sector consultants, customers and contractors to contribute to the development and implementation of Government policy through: · Strategic development and business planning of the programmes · Contracting and management of knowledge and evidence gathering projects from their initial specification through to publication of the results The posts are primarily to support the Envirowise and/or Building Regulations Programmes and hence we are seeking consultants with appropriate experience in: Resource efficiency/waste minimisation in design and construction and/or Energy efficiency, health and safety aspects of Building Regulations The Person Successful candidates will demonstrate the following business skills: Essential: · Problem solving · Exercising judgement · Communicating (Oral, written & presenting) · Networking and liaising · Leading · Delegation and follow-up · Change orientation Desirable: · Organising · Making decisions · Influencing · Working to commercial imperatives Required personal attributes: · Experience of working within the construction industry from managerial responsibilities in major organizations, industry associations and/or Government agencies to working with skill trade suppliers on site · Skills in networking with the influencers in construction companies · Knowledge of waste and resource efficiency issues in the construction industry · Knowledge of building design issues · Experience of working in accordance with Government policy initiatives and regulations related to the construction industry · Relationship building, client-liaison, and subcontractor management · Ability to present to wide ranging audiences in the construction sector · Commercial awareness, be able to identify and act on the views and needs of the stakeholders/customers, in designing business solutions, shaping and spotting business opportunities, · Plan projects and resources · Fact find and analysis information, produce professional reports · Ability to monitor and ensure quality of own work · Champion change, identify areas for improvement which will improve performance of the project or business and demonstrates a personal belief in and commitment to change · Test and challenge assumptions · Work creatively · Relevant degree or equivalent · All successful candidates will respond positively to change and be able to drive change within an organisation.
