Our client is one of Europe’s leading consultancy and engineering companies. Due to continued success they are expanding rapidly and require a Principal Hydrologist to join their team in either Edinburgh or Glasgow.

The role will involve working as a part of a growing and dynamic team on a wide variety of hydrology, hydro-ecology and multi-disciplinary projects; including significant national/regional level studies; for water companies, developers, local authorities, industrial clients and central government organisations. The successful candidate will be responsible for technical management of the hydrological aspects of the projects and, where required, will act as Project/Task Manager, ensuring delivery to time, cost and quality. The role will be client facing and will involve contributing to management of a business unit including staff management and development, financial monitoring and business development.

Skills and Experience Required:

• Relevant first degree with a Masters degree preferred.

• Chartered with a relevant professional institution (e.g. MCIWEM) or working towards Chartership.

• Detailed hands on technical involvement in significant hydrology projects, with experience of relevant modelling packages.

• Involvement in Water Resources, Water Framework Directive, Integrated River Basin Management or Flood Studies (strategic or site specific) related projects is of particular interest.
