Our Clients environmental team provides sustainable solutions focussing particularly on new development and the management of existing businesses, industry and estates. Through growth they are now seeking a Consultant, with specialist knowledge and experience of mechanical and electrical building services and their contribution to sustainability in the built environment, to join the Sustainable Construction Team. The role would include assessment of buildings and structures at design, construction and operation phases, handling client relationships and managing a project portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Lead provider within the team of advice on building physics and building systems to maximise sustainability performance and BREEAM ratings.
- Lead provider within the team of expertise on Building Regulations Part L.
- Lead provider within the team of technical and commercial advice on renewable energy applications.
- Major contributor within the team to daylight, ventilation, and thermal comfort modelling.
- Project-manage a portfolio of projects for selected clients, developing relationships with client representatives.
- Meet with and present analysis results and advice to clients and project teams.
- Develop an understanding of BREEAM methodologies and compliance criteria.
You will have a good technical understanding of the following: building energy, building simulation modelling (e.g. daylight, thermal comfort and CFD) and building-integrated renewable energy systems.
Your experience/skills would ideally also include:
- An understanding of the UK drivers for a more sustainable built environment.
- Practical understanding of legislation and standards relevant to sustainability and environmental issues that impact on construction and planning.
- An appreciation of how the UK construction industry operates.
- An understanding of the technical principles of carbon foot-printing.
- Degree in a relevant discipline.
- Masters Degree in a relevant discipline
- Engineering qualification.
- Membership of a relevant professional body, such as the Institute of Energy, CIBSE or IEMA.
- Proven ability to assess building-integrated renewable energy systems.
The roles offer the opportunity to further develop consultancy skills and gain excellent exposure to international projects and work towards specialising in either a commercial, technical or managerial role.
