JOB PURPOSE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Based from Towcester, Northampton the Technical Manger – Asbestos will establish, operate and develop the technical elements of the company’s asbestos consultancy business.
Responsibilities include:
• To ensure continued accreditation and compliance with UKAS, RICE, AIMS and other schemes within legal parameters and best practice.
• Manage the Technical, Lab, QC and associated functions.
• Ensure audits, etc are carried out as required.
• Carry out and ensure that all technical checking is completed to business requirements.
• Support the business in operational developments to improved customer service and continuously improve systems and procedures.
• Preparation of technical updates for internal staff as required.
• Train and develop staff.
• To innovate new methodologies to maximise efficiencies.
• Liaise with staff and clients to ensure queries are logged and resolved as necessary.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
• Applicants are likely to be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline or be qualified by experience.
• Membership of IOSH or an appropriate specialist professional body is desirable although this is not a pre-requisite.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
• A comprehensive understanding of current and pending UK asbestos legislation and best practice.
• Applicants must have some asbestos management experience.
• Full knowledge of QA systems combined with operational aspects of an asbestos consultancy.
• In-depth knowledge of UKAS, RICE and Aims schemes.
• Experience of direct liaison with UKAS.
• An ability to devise and set up robust technical systems and monitoring processes in consultancy environment.
• Experience and authority to guide the professional and technical teams in this consultancy area.
• Ability to provide pragmatic advice on complex compliance issues.
• Ability to implement and maintain systems effectively in order to ensure compliance.
• Ability to work seamlessly with the operations team.
