Position: Principal River Engineer
Salary: 35-45K plus benefits

We are seeking an experienced Engineer to act in a Principal role to support and enhance an existing and expanding Water Environment team. The role will be to assist the Function Group Manager as part of the water management group in taking the large multi-disciplined team into increased areas of river, canal and overland flow analysis and design work whilst successfully managing medium to large projects and civil design teams. You will be technically and commercially responsible for the modelling and design of open water course modelling and design work including flood risk assessments, integrated modelling, developer support, treatment work flood risk assessments and watercourse design works and restoration. You may need to use your skills also to solve problems outside of the traditional water sector when they arise and innovate new ideas in other sectors that have water dependency.

Our current work within the team includes integrated urban modelling, drainage area planning, feasibility and design studies, design of major flood and pollution alleviation projects for numerous clients, pilot research studies for Government bodies, new canal designs, clean water trunk main design and distribution main rehabilitation projects, hydraulic modelling of WwTW and sewerage systems, clean water DMAs and river flood risk assessments, design of river weirs, fish passes and overflow chutes and development of procedures and advisory services for water company clients. We have a wide range of clients from Water Plcs, developers, contractors and public bodies.

Primary Duties – To Project Manage medium to large size projects. Manage the production, quality and delivery of hydraulic models, design calculations, specifications, drawings and design HARA’s for water related projects. Manage and help develop engineers, graduates and technicians within the team. Develop good working relationships with both existing and new clients to help secure further business.

Essential Qualifications

Professionally qualified Engineer, for example CEng MICE or CEng MCIWEM.

Essential Skills or Background

As a Principal Engineer you will have design and modelling experience in water course and overland flow projects. You will be able to demonstrate successful management of modelling and design teams and project and financial management of medium to large scale projects. You will also have technical experience of one or more of the following software packages; HECRAS, MIKE11, MIKE21, ISIS, InfoWorks.
