Position: Principal Environmental Scientist (EIA)

The role involves project management of EIAs, provision of high quality environmental advice to clients, and technical support and mentoring to more junior members of the environmental team.

The succesful candidate for this role must be able to demonstrate:

Degree qualification in a relevant environmental/natural science subject

Good understanding of environmental issues

A track record of successful Project Management on a range of EIA projects, with experience of working within large multidisciplinary teams

Knowledge of the environmental legislative and regulatory framework and the EIA process within the EU/UK

Experience in regulatory authority liaison and negotiation

Strong technical skills in environmental assessment, with excellent report writing skills, and experience of EIA and Environmental Statement preparation

Experience in managing and mentoring more junior technical staff.

Additional desirable competencies/skills:

Good MSc qualification in a relevant subject

Membership of an appropriate professional institution and or chartered status

Specific experience with the environmental assessment of highways and energy projects

PLI and expert witness experience.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities

Responsible for technical input and coordination of EIAs for a range of projects

Project management including programme and budgetary controls, and compliance with relevant Health and Safety and Quality Control procedures

Client and regulatory authority liaison

Staff management and mentoring.

Assisting with the development of the Environmental Business Unit.
