Job: Senior Geotechnical Engineer, Macdonald & Co

This excellent opportunity is at a multidisciplinary engineering practice that operates throughout the UK, Europe and the USA. Projects include low and high-rise buildings, brownfield regeneration sites, waterside developments, transport buildings, bridges and highways.

This is a challenging project management role, responsibilities will include ensuring work is carrier out within agreed deadline and within budget and that appropriate service/design decisions are met. Your will be required to undertake detailed engineering design and prepare technical schedules. You will mentor and assist graduate engineers and represent the company at meetings with clients, other professionals and suppliers.

You will have 6-8 years experience in foundation design and geotechnical processes and preferably have undertaken some advanced geotechnical analysis.  Successful candidates will need a first degree in Civil Engineering or Geology, then preferably an MSc in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or similar subjects. 

It would be beneficial to be a chartered Engineer (ICE) or Geologist.  Experience should include foundation, basement, earthworks and ground treatment design skills. A good understanding of ground investigation techniques and its importance to deriving appropriate design parameters is required. 

Knowledge of contaminated land investigation and assessment would be of value. The ability to plan and deliver projects whilst working in a team or under minimal supervision is essential.
