A fantastic opportunity exists for an enthusiastic, motivated Contaminated Land consultant.
You will join a well established team and be working on a combination of geo-environmental, contaminated land and environmental projects.
The exact details of the role and responsibilities will be flexible and dependent on the experience of the applicant, but you can expect to include the following:
- Design, supervision, reporting and management of Geo-Environmental Phase 1 and Phase 2 site investigations; Knowledge of human health and groundwater risk assessment to include the CLEA framework and P20 methodologies; Knowledge of CDM regulations and the preparation of Health and Safety plans for site works;
- Preparation and review of interpretative reports covering the investigation and assessment of brownfield sites which incorporate client focused and pragmatic remediation solutions that satisfy the requirements of the appropriate regulatory agencies and are compatible with engineering, budgetary and other constraints;
- Development of pragmatic remediation strategies that meet the needs of varied sites and clients, satisfy the requirements of the appropriate regulatory agencies and are compatible with engineering, budgetary and other constraints;
- Implementation, management and site supervision of remediation works; The position will be based in Huntingdon office but applicants may be required to work on site, or from other offices or clients’ premises as required by the project. May be required to work away from home for periods of time.
Experience - Excellent communication skills, including the ability to negotiate with Environmental Health Officers and the Environmental Agency. Good knowledge of current UK practice and methodologies for both qualitative and quantitative risk assessments in the context of current UK legislation. A good knowledge of emerging remediation technologies.
- Qualified to BSc (Hons) level within a relevant Environmental/Engineering discipline, although the possession of a relevant higher degree is an advantage.
Geotechnical knowledge and demonstrable experience of the interface of contaminated land with the wider development issues of brownfield sites. Some experience is required of project management of medium and large scale multidisciplinary projects, managing in-house project teams and third party contributions, including resource management, project programming, budget control, project delivery and client liaison. Applicant will need to be able to assist with preparing proposals and tenders for new work, including interpreting the brief, specification of works required and cost estimating as well as business development, client contact, market research, attending client meetings etc.
